Gang Profiles and Tags May Indicate Who Our Kids Are Hanging With.Gang Profiles and identities are wrapped up in the symbols they use for defining their territory or stomping ground and members. Gang Profiles and tags state who they are. In some ways this is a heads up for us, as the individuality of tags and tattoos tells us something about them and can be used as a forewarning of who our kids are hanging out with. Tags often carry the area code for the boundaries within which they operate and how big time or small they are. Their tattoos are another insight to the Gang Profiles as they are another way of identifying the gang to which they belong. Tattoos are usually inked in by one another, as most professional artists prefer not to be associated by proxy, for obvious reasons. And not least, the legal issues of tattooing a minor. For this reason, don't take it for granted that your 10 or 17yr old just messed up. Some seemingly childish and naive looking tattoos may have more sinister and insidious meanings. For instance a tear drop can be an indication of a murder carried out. Not much benign about that!Tags are another layer in Gang Profiles, and a potential source of information. These graffiti style signatures, plastered over every inch of wall often relate to names of street gangs and the boundaries that they operate in. When found on school book covers and book bags it is usually indicative of membership to a gang in a particular area. Other so called tags can be items of clothing, in a particular colour, or brand name. Other symbols of belonging to a certain gang can be one trouser leg rolled up or a belt that hangs down undone. Whatever the case membership comes at a price even in small time gangs, often in the form of underage drinking, petty theft, drugs and underage sex encounters of the unprotected kind!
The level and type of crime is directly related to the status and strength of a crew and its leader. Note that the higher the status, strength and wealth, the more likely it is that they will be dealing in drugs and carrying weapons that they are prepared to use. For this reason take note of the tags and symbols as the signature & an insight to the Gang Profiles. Signs, tattoos, tags and clothing may seem quite arbitary to the uninitiated but they seldom are without meaning. The notorius Cripps Gang in America tend to wear blue and white clothing or beads as a sign of membership. The Fast Guns in South Africa often have the letters FG tattooed between the index finger and thumb of the left hand. Symbols like a spiderweb can mean waiting patiently for their victim. Facial tattoos in South Africa indicate defiance of prison authorities. Four stars on the shoulder area indicates rank as does a crown. High profile gangs use a blood in blood out method of joining or leaving. This means being jumped (beaten up) by members of the gang.

According to the hierarchy in these self styled corporations, the youngest members are the ones who get involved as the runners and look-outs, known also as foot soldiers. They may also get involved in petty theft at an early age by following in the foot steps of their new role models. They may do this in order to prove their worth and loyalty or as an initiation task. Indications of such acts can be expensive items not bought by any family member. Explanations are often weak or at best avoided. Gang Profiles inform us of the danger that kids may well be in by belonging to a particular gang.

Although not up to date you may be surprised to see how many really young children there are, already on a path to the ruination of their young lives. Please note however that the reports on this website, do not suggest that the crimes carried out were gang related.
