Kids HairyDog Tales2 Not All Bottles Are Cool Drink
Kids HairyDog Tales, are intended for the young members of our gangs as a tool to introduce them to the world of reality. A world where adults do make mistakes and if not in our own homes but in some of the homes and places that they visit. It is my intention to cover the most likely events that occur in all families and that affect our young gang members.
Kids HairyDog Tales2 is the second in series that I intend to publish just for our littlest gang members. The come from my own experiences with children and the things that they get up to, mostly in innocence!
I do urge that should any child drink a substance that is unknown to the parent, that they be taken to hospital or a clinic straight away as not all unknown substances can be treated with a simple glass of water or milk. The child may indeed need to have a stomach pump done in certain intstances. Treat all unknown substances with extreme caution. E.G. Parafin can cause chemical pneumonia.
NOT ALL BOTTLES ARE COOL DRINK.
One day Sammy Novice Junior, his friend Lucy Lost and Hairy dog were playing in the garage. Actually, Sammy and Lucy were playing and Hairy Dog was lying with his chin on his paws watching them, his big brown eyes following them around the garage.
Sammy and Lucy had started off playing with the toy dumper truck and the dolls, giving them rides in the back of it and tipping them out at the door of the dolls’ house.
Then they made pretend cups of tea and ate pretend biscuits with the dolls. Hairy Dog rolled his brown eyes showing the whites and he gently pulled at their arms and legs with his big paws.
Sammy Novice Junior was squatting down on his heels sipping his pretend tea when he noticed an old plastic bottle on the floor of the garage. It had some yellow liquid in it. He suddenly realised that he was actually quite thirsty and that lovely bottle looked just like lemonade. "Mmmmm, Yum" he thought! He went straight over to that bottle and picked it up.
Lucy Lost, saw him battling to open it with his short little fingers. Sammy was making all sorts of grunting noises and his face turned quite red as he struggled with the lid. Hairy Dog got up and walked over to see what all the fuss was about. Lucy joined them just as the lid came off and fell on the floor. Some of the juice spilled out onto the floor and Hairy Dog gave it a sniff and then sneezed loudly! It didn't smell like cool drink to him and he thought to himself "Gooorrd Grrrief" as he watched Sammy Novice Junior wrap his lips around the top of the bottle and tip it up into his mouth.
Lucy Lost was jumping up and down shouting, "some for me, some for me"! She was rudely interrupted by Sammy, who suddenly sprayed her and Hairy Dog , with the liquid. It came shooting out his mouth like pop from a shaken bottle, and he was coughing and spluttering. His face was screwed up in disgust. This was no lemonade he had ever tasted. It was awful! His mouth started watering as his stomach began to gurgle and cramp. His spit was starting to foam around his mouth like his favourite bubble bath.
Huge bubbles started ballooning out his nose and out the sides of his mouth. Lucy thought, "that's very funny cool drink"! her eyes big with surprise. Hairy Dog thought, "Grrreat Scott!!
Sammy Novice Junior's loud coughing and crying brought his mother from the kitchen in a hurry. She popped her head around the door and Lucy Lost looked at her, turned her hands upward in the air and shrugged her shoulders!
Quickly Sammy’s mommy grabbed the bottle from the floor where Sammy Novice Junior had dropped it and looked at the label. "Car wash Sammy, you're drinking car wash?" she looked surprised. "I think you might need a drink of milk" she said kindly, leading him back to the kitchen still frothing and spluttering. Hairy Dog followed, wagging his tail, which banged against the door and flicked Lucy Lost across the face, all the while licking the bubbles and spit off of Sammy’s face.
The milk helped Sammy's tummy a little, but it would be a while before he felt altogether better. It also took away the awful taste of the soap that looked like lemonade. "Now Sammy!, Lucy!, listen carefully”, Sammy's mommy said in a very serious voice,
"Not all bottles have cool drink in them. Sometimes bottles may have stuff in them that looks good to drink, but not all of them have real cool drink in them". Hairy Dog thumped his tail up and down on the floor in agreement. "Some bottles might even have poison in them, even old cool drink bottles", she said, her face quite stern behind her kind eyes. "Daddy was naughty to have left that bottle on the floor in the garage, but you still should have asked mummy first, before you opened it and drank it.
Never drink anything or eat anything that you haven't asked mommy about first! And if mummy is not around then ask daddy or another grown up. "We are all very lucky, Sammy, that you did not drink something very poisonous" she said worriedly.
"Now Lucy, Sammy, what do you need to remember"? asked Sammy’s mom, her eyebrows wiggling up and down. "Not all bottles have cool drink in them," Sammy and Lucy chorused together. "And what Sammy's mummy asked, "should you do when you want a drink"?
"Ask a grown-up! they laughed. Hairy Dog, jumped up, he wagged his tail fast, flicking everyone, including the table and
chairs."Grrreat advice", he thought and barked his agreement.
The End.
